For me the most appealing part of the hobby is to get the trains out of the boxes and onto something resembling a landscape. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be more than bare plywood.
Given my space constraints, this has meant small branchline layouts in fictional settings, where I can create my own story and try to operate the trains in a somewhat realistic manner. As small as the layout is (approx 183cm x 61cm), I see this as a lifetime project, where I slowly improve the track and scenery over time. I don't have the patience for museum quality, but I am happy to always try to improve - σιγά σιγά!
On the left is a TrainSafe adapter that allows me to connect a TrainSave Vision tube for trains to enter and exit the layout. The left module is the countryside module. On the right is the town module with the station and associated track, along with a small town centre and seaside. No such place exists of course, as I have combined elements of various places that are dear to me - modellers license!
