TCDD DH 11-505 in 1/87

Hi everyone, here is a different project than my recent tank wagons...

The real loco used to bring the well known red/blue TCDD coaches at the border station of Pythion.
It was initially an Andy's (Olympus) idea to produce a DH 11 5xx model that didn't finally materialize.

I first thought to model the 514 above but I changed my mind after having a closer look at the available photos and spotting the differences of the liveries through the years.
The two narrow stripes seen above seems to be a late 90's addition. At the next photo is the same loco, 514 in 1988 and as we can see the livery has only the broad stripe and no numbering at the front.

There are differences at the schemes, even some of them have retained their original DB colors!

The model is a ROCO BR 211 from the 51299 starter set sold separately at ebay.

The metal labels are photo-etched produced by KUSWA https://www.kuswa.de/
They are really great, Mr Kuswa is most helpful and the parts were sent really fast together with some more accessories that I'll sow you later at some other projects.

The decals are "Homemade" and are pretty plain as it seems that the Turkish rail-men need no instruction to operate and maintain them.
I guess that's why there are no inscriptions on the chassis!

There was some progress on the project lately. The loco has been disassembled,

the light lenses and other parts have been carefully removed by pushing them from inside, windows and cabin roof have been removed as well.

I have also removed the axles to protect them from spraying and to separately weather them later.

Finally the body and frame have been airbrushed with Vallejo primer and left aside to dry thoroughly.

The body has received a couple of coats of blue paint. As I want a quite faded look I have used Vallejo Electric Blue 72.023 toned down with some drops of Intense Blue 70.925. I hope with the washes, filters and weathering to achieve the required result.
The frame and bogies have been sprayed with a Black + some Dark Gray mixture.

I have removed the white band from the grilles.

at most of the locos the band was not painted on the grilles or it was soon faded, the only exceptions I have seen are these two photos, both found at v100.de

The project is closing to completion. The metal plates have been added and the only stage that remains to be done, is weathering.

Hi everybody. I hope you are all safe.
I'm not sure if there should be time for modelling with so many deaths around us!
On the other hand hobbies that's what they are made for, to offer us pleasure and help us cope with depress and anxiety....

My TCDD DH is finished at last. I could keep weathering it for ever but I decided to stop at this point as there are quite some projects waiting at the production line
