I am not sure but I think that two of the Δα locos came from Σ.Α.Π (the Ilektrikos of Athens before it was electricified)

Hi Everyone,

Georgegala, I think there is probably a small confusion here; you are probably mistaking the Δα for the 0-6-0 Manning Wardle locos of the SAP (the 'ΜΑΡΙΝΑ').
Actually, the SAP were electrified some 40+ years before the USTC 0-6-0 were built; it is known that a number of the ex-SAP steam locos went to the PDS-SEK where they ran under different Nos, but they had nothing to do with the Δα's!

Anyway, these are things that can happen! If all the problems of the world were like this one...

Cheers,

Iossif

I know that the ΣΑΠ were electricified in 1904.I had read in a website that loco Δα 51 was the only ΣΕΚ/ΠΔΣ/ΟΣΕ loco that came from the ΣΑΠ (ΜΑΡΙΝΑ) and that it was used in Rentis Depot (Μ.Α.Ι.Ρ.).

Actually Da51 "Marina" was a contracts locomotive delivered to build the PDS (Actually it was unloaded in Ag.Marina). After the contractor went bankcrupt Da51 went on loan to SAP. After a new contractor was found it was returned to the construction site around Lamia and later to the SEK roster.

"Marina" was a Manniwardle Class M contractors loco and came in Greece with Maroon Livery...Midland red is being registered as the livery at delivery.

ΜΑΡΙΝΑ was still active during the 50s at the MAI; according to personal communication from former OSE railwaymen, it was scrapped in 1961 or 1962 (the biggest scrapping tsunami...)

People were still mourning her in the late 80s...

And here is a picture of our little ΜΑΡΙΝΑ
The pic comes from the OSE public relations department (date and place unknown)

Thanks Pierre, it was a good idea to have these E. 'Dusty' Durrant photos in here.
If I'm not wrong PRORAIL UK has bought some of his negative films and sells printed copies of them at ebay http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/prorailuk
