OSE Z3 Vans 154 4 000-224 Romania 1974

Postby BarbaPanagos » Tue Aug 06, 2013 12:26 pm

Romanian built, in 1974 by UZINA DE VAGOANE MEVA - TURNU SEVERIN, ROMANIA
21 73 154 4 000-202 Gbs without Brake Hut, older UIC classification Gbrs (203 units)
21 73 154 4 203-224 Gbs-v with Brake Hut, older UIC classification Gbrs-v (22 units)

I have no record of an older UIC numbering. I also don't know what is their difference from class 154 3 625-874 also built in Romania in 1974, I guess Jason would have the answer.
The list I use is one that Amnizia member Nondmoiz (Nondas) had created, with addition from Jason.

21 73 154 4 134-5 Gbs, Thiva

154 4

Anyway ...

The differences between the ''154 4'' and ''154 3'' are their dimentions and year of order... (Although the changing number ''3'' and ''4'' doesn't mean this. This digit is the number of thousands of the car's number. For example if we ever had a series of 3000 cars their numbers would be .... for example 21 73 154 3 001 to 21 73 154 6 000. O.S.E. probably left the gap between the last of the ''154 3'' (which is 21 73 154 3 874) and the first ''154 4'' (which is 21 73 154 4 000) for case that more cars same to ''154 3'' would come, so it would be good to keep them together.)

154 4 are 1 year earlier order (154 4: 1972, 154 3: 1973)
154 4 are 4 mm longer than 154 3
154 4 are 1,7 m³ less than 154 3
154 4 are 0,5 m² less than 154 3
154 4 are 20mm more narrow than 154 3
154 4's ''box'' is 50mm higher from the rails than 154 3's
154 4's ''box'' is 10mm taller than 154 3's
154 4's ''box'''s inside is 30mm higher than 154 3's.

ok, I have it corrected, I'm not worried about such mistakes, I know i can rely on you :D
thanks for pointing out the differences, I'm impressed once again!

I take the chance to upload some more photos before the usual Jason's photo flood. Unfortunately from the known stations close to Athens. I didn't have the chance till now, to take many shots northern than Amphiklia, not to mention that during my two out of three visits up there, the Stations were either permanently or temporarily out of use... but that's another story.

21 73 154 4 016-0 Gbs at Tithorea, like all the others that follow

Houston, we have a problem! I just went to upload a photo and I get a message that 'board attachment quota has been reached' Looks like we've filled it up already guys!
Anyway, I never realised there were so many different flavours of Z3s.

Hi Panagiotis,

That's what I was afraid of! Didn't take very long, either. I PM'd the Tech Guy this morning just to check on the situation.

We'll all be thoroughly sick of Z3s before we've done, and then we'll have all the Z5s to do - ARRGHHH!

Regards, Tim.

Maybe, but some Z5s are painted a darker shade of brown, have different bodyside ribbing and a yellow line on the door - Whoopee!

thanks Tim, I only wish I had started rail photography some years ago! just compare my photo of the same van to yours, 7 years later the markings are barely visible and I better make no comment about the "artists" :(
