Great shots Tim!

The first one is a Ggs-v of Italian origin, built from MARCHETTI in 1951, 170 units all with brake hut, numbers 149 8 000-198, old numbering 5331-5500
most interesting, this one is the very first of the class, numbered 000!!! It's the first time I see such a numbered car and just a couple days ago I had some talk with Jason about this!

The second one is a Ggs-v of Romania origin, built from MEVA in 1958, 490 units all with brake hut, numbers 149 7 009-971, old numbering 5331-5500, this one was 6320

This info comes from fellow enthusiast's research and I have it gathered mostly from the net, I can't be 100% if this is all accurate or if I have it transfered right ;)

I'd also like to suggest that we better have a different post for each bunch.

Hi Panagiotis,

I wondered about the Rouf wagon, it certainly has a very Italian pattern brake hut, or 'garitta' as they would call it. I saw other Z2s around but never took pictures of them - silly me! In view of the differences, perhaps another post would be a good idea - no doubt Jason has many photos for us to enjoy!

Regards, Tim.

Some things to add - correct...

The class of the first is 21 73 149 8 000-169 (not 198) and , yes , S.E.K. Ζπτ 5331-5500 some of them built by SOCIETA PER AZIONI SIAI - MARCHETTI and some others built by INDUSTRIES STABIENSI MECCANICHE E NAVALI AVIS CASTELLAMMARE DI STABIA. ( 5331-5456 marchetti, 5457-5500 avis). Of course the renumbering was RANDOM .... so for example 21 73 149 8 000 IS NOT Ζπτ 5331 ... so if you count with the U.I.C. numbers, the AVIS built ones are randomly set... ALSO some cars, have number 42 73 ...... instead of 21 73.

The second series is not built by MEVA ... but by UZINES METALLURGIQUES 23 AUGUST, BUCHAREST, ROUMANIE 1958 - 1959. Former numbers Ζπτ 6101-6600 ... Panagiotis, you wrote again the 5331-5500 of Italian ones ...

Here is where just paperwork doesn't work  :D

Photos coming today...

What we really need is to get together and scour Greece with our cameras for every wagon and take the numbers - we might get a better idea of what's what!

Thanks Jason, that's what friends are for ;) I'm going to update my list

Tim, that's a good idea! we should organize such a trip. I just hope Jason will have left some cars unphotographed till then, and something for us to discover

what about keeping this topic for the Italians, rename it accordingly and open a new one for the Romanians?
