Continuing with the previous pictures, here's one on the old RENFE's 1900 (319 UIC serie) diesel loco from which they re use some parts to rebuild the new RENFE's 319 serie. The old 1900 diesel were the numerous diesel loco in network by those days.

RENFE's 1900 serie were produce in 1960 by the spanish manufacturer MACOSA at Valencia under General Motors lisence. General Motors produced the 1977 HP motors in the States, that allows to reach 120 km/ h speed. The whole serie (106 locomotives) were produced between 1965 and 1972.

Good afternoon,

Going on trip last summer to the famous SanFermines party in Pamplona, we reached the Zaragoza station, a railway knot where you car reach almost all cities from north eastern Spain (Barcelona, Basque Country and french border, mediterranean cities and other internal cities). Zaragoza was one of the first spanish cities with railway link in the 19th century, due to the starting of the activities of the MZA (Madrid to Zaragoza and Alicante) Railway Company.

In its new terminal which shelters also the High Speed trains to Barcelona, we found this material which has its flavour, altouhgh refurbished, far from the brand new High Speed EMUs, now everywhere visible.

Here we can see a EMU 448 serie, coming from the old EMU 444 serie

The 448 serie EMUs, originaly known as 444.500 subserie, represented an important advance in comparison between 432 & 444 EMUs series, pable to run up to 160 km/h that permited to extend a new RENFE service, known as 'Intercity', long distance day service.

Here we can see the original units as the were working in the 70-80s

In the first photo the writing reads RENFE BALKANEXPRESS. Is this a new company? :?

The old lady still wants to fight.

Here's ex-RENFE 1601, first of the series (second from the ones that come from the States, the first one was 1615, the famous "Marilyn") working on ballast duties at High Speed Line from Seville to Cádiz, at Utrera station.

Does anyone know why the headlights were placed vertically on the RENFE ones and horizontally on the SEK ones.
