While long out of revenue service there are still many of these iconic ex-USATC bogie tankers to be found. All photos taken at Rentis, 2005.

USATC design supplied by UNRRA,1942 built, originally SEK Pφπ 18531-18580, 50 wagons.

And what supports it all - a stripped chassis, possibly USA 118945, at Rentis in 2005.

All of them that i have seen are built in 1944 (maybe some are built in 1942 or 1943 but i have not found anything to be sure.) by at least two builders. I have found some which have been built by AMERICAN CAR COMPANY (A.C.C.) and one (of course there would be more) by C.A.T.C. (i don't know any other info about that company). The possibilities are high that some of them were built by P.-S.C.M. COMPANY as soon as i 've found other U.N.R.R.A. cars (not tankers) which have been built by this company.

Although it's true that i ''high'' number of them is still at Rentis....

Ρφπ 18533, 18542, 18548, 18554 and 18560.

.... as a class it's now very rare. What i 've found except those at Rentis is one at Lachanokipi and i know where one more stays..... and that's it.

Tim posted many at Rentis so i only upload a photo of 18533:

Ρφπ 18533 (ΑΙΡ).JPG

and Ρφπ 18536 at Lachanokipi

Ρφπ 18536 (ΛΑΧΑΝΟΚΗΠΟΙ).JPG

Some years ago (around .... 2005) there were many more at Thessaloniki but they were all scrapped except this ''for museum reasons''.

Also some were used as tanks at depots:

and one more at Thessaloniki, photo by Niek Opdam.

Perhaps my bare chassis at Rentis belongs to Pφπ 18554? I have one more picture taken at Thessaloniki old station in May 2000,the wagon appears to be part of a weedkilling train.

Hello people.

Agios Ioannis Rentis, 02.10.2013. Operation-number: 18533.

Model in 1: 87 (HO) from Kleinmodellbahn:
I have found these 2 modells with different operating number from Kleinmodellbahn upgraded from Krüger Eisenbahn-Modellbau and to be sold by WAGENWERK:
Art.Nr.: Krüger Eisenbahn-Modellbau 63005.1. http://www.wagenwerk.de/h0de/fahrzeuge/ ... 9-099.html
Art.Nr.: Krüger Eisenbahn-Modellbau 63005.2. http://www.wagenwerk.de/h0de/fahrzeuge/ ... 9-087.html
They look 99% simlar to our prototype. However, they cost 135euros, as they have fine parts on them.
Also, I have found that in ebay:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Klein-Modellbahn ... 4aca09eb3e
However, this looks different from ours.

About the bogies:
The bogies are OK exact to the prototype from the model, but not sprung / rigid - so if someone needs sprung bogies / trucks, he may found them in this website:
http://www.proto87.com/page27.html
The most similar to our wagon, is the ASF A-3 truck and the Later Bettendorf truck. However, they have many differences from our truck. So, I believe it's better to use the Kleinmodellbahn one.

Finally about the couplings and sprung-buffers. The following can be used to all our UNNRA wagons, i.e. tank wagons, opened wagons, flat wagons, as well as american steam locomotives of SEK, i.e. Θγ:
About the screw-coupling:

About the sprung-buffers:

Hello.

I have found this ROCO HO tank wagon, Art. Nr.: 66814, for conversion to the Greek one. Is that the right one?

Thanx Christo.

I also found this: http://www.ebay.de/itm/NS-4-achs-Kessel ... 6736927%26

However, it has some differences in the ladders on one of the tanks as you may see. The upper perpendicular part of the ladder must be removed /cut-off as well as the 2 tables / signs of the decals, when converted to greek one. I believe. :?

Rentis, 31.01.2014. Operation-number: 18533.
Image
- Red arrows: shunting-handrails, which as shown, are welded and not riveted / and or bolted on.
- Blue arrows: supports of the hand-brake - rod.

KLEIN MODELLBAHN HO model - ready for buffers and couplings to be installed:

1./ About the screw-coupling - REPEAT:
Image
Kupplung für USTC-Güterwagen - montiert, Art.Nr.: 509 18 11042, price: 14,00€. http://www.wagenwerk.de/h0de/fahrzeugba ... tiert.html
Image
Image

2./ About the sprung-buffers:
- I have measured as length: 558mm = 6,414mm in HO, however I have to recalculate this, because the standard is between 460mm - 530mm.
- Also, as dia., I have measured 411mm = 4,724mm in HO, and the Standard is 400mm, so I have to recalculate that, too.
Puffer USTC Bauart, Puffertellerdurchmesser 400 mm (4,6 mm), Art.Nr.: 507 18 2170x , price: 26,00€. http://www.wagenwerk.de/h0de/fahrzeugba ... -mm-1.html
Image

[/u][/b]3./ About the trucks / bogies:
I will use the existing ones, and with a P87 wheels with Wheel-dia.: 9,6mm in HO (= 835mm in prototype), and axle-length: 23,8mm for KLEIN MODELLBAHN HO
(http://www.wagenwerk.de/h0de/fahrzeugba ... 77-mm.html).
OR I will buy the T-section Bettendorf sprung-trucks from KADEE HO (http://www.kadee.com/htmbord/page511-554.htm), but the frames are not exactly the same with the ones the USATC wagon has, as they have angles on their sides and they are not round. I mention that for the tender of Θγ as well. :(

4./ About the airbrakes:

I have measured the airbrake support-sizes, and they are the following:
Vertical-support - L2: 54mm = 0,609mm in HO
Horizontal-support - L1: 94mm = 1,080mm in HO
Image

The upper-part of the airbrakes, will be soldered to the support - to be hand-made by etched-brass parts. Also the connection of the rear of the airbrakes to the existing brake-system, will be made by 0,5mm - brass - wires.

5./ About the shunting-handrails:

The measurements are the following:
- L1 = 194mm = 0,223mm in HO (almost 0.2mm). However I may use 0,3mm wire-thickness (out of brass wire), as the difference of 0.077mm may be considered negligible.
- L2 = 229mm = 2,632mm in HO
- L3 = 525mm = 6,034mm in HO
Image

With more Progress and completion, I will post more.

Thanx

Andy Reichert in California gives all the types of sprung-trucks / and or bogies of KADDEE HO, with either RP25 Code110 / and or P87 with the exact Wheel-dia. for every differnet type of bogie, i.e. for the Bettendorf ones, 835mm of the prototype = 9,6mm in HO.
