Christo,

Re 4/4 II (Bo-Bo) Electric locomtive of SBB, also acted in the film "Cassandra Crossing", and is a very beautiful locomotive. Also constructed by ex-LEMACO (now LEMATEC) and FULGUREX in scales: HO, O, I. The HO engines (drive+bogies) of these locomotives, were made by TENSHODO.

I appreciate that Christo. Thanx "beasts" :D

I love them! But the greek locomotives, the most! They are the best of the best, and the most unique ones! First one MLW. ;)

I present here my Swiss wagon with sliding doors of the type: Habils - upgraded to P87 standards. This made by LIMA HO 1990/91 (I will post a pic from the 1990 catalog):

H Gedeckter Wagen in Sonderbauart
a Mit 4 Achsen
b Ladelänge 18 m und mehr
i Schiebewände
l Nicht verriegelbare Transportschutzeinrichtung
s Höchstgeschwindigkeit 100 km/h

It took me 4 days to complete it and also do some corrections on it. I will post some more of the painted parts, later on.

Operational parts:
1./ UIC - screw-couplings (Schraubenkupplung) [WEIMANN HO] out of brass.
2./ High-power sprung-buffers with 59t load on the end of the bufferplate (Hochleistungspuffer mit 59t Endkraft) with round bufferplates (bufferplate - dia.: 450mm = 5,2mm in HO) and screwed (runde geschraubte Pufferteller), buffer-length: 620mm - standard by UIC = 7,126mm in HO [WEIMANN HO] out of brass.
3./ Coupling plate (Kupplungsflansch). This was handmade constructed by me, by one of the 3 different coupling-plates from WEIMANN (out of brass) + 2 etched brass parts soldered on it on the top and bottom. The thickness of the brass parts is 0,3mm, and their length is cut to 7,5mm, as this measurement is taken by the Rilns from ROCO HO - that I already have. I will post some pics of how I constucted it. As LIMA HO, never had in most wagons coupling-plates (though they were exact in 1: 87 scale), I filed the plastic in the middle, constructed the plate (as I mentioned), and the pics show the result. What I made, is the standard coupling-plate for either freight / and or passenger wagons and some locos.
The distance between the end of the coupling hook (Zughaken) and the end of the bufferplate (Pufferteller) was constructed to be 3.9mm as the P87 standards, such as for the couplings to work on 1000mm -radius. Nevertheless, the distance from one side was calculated 3,9mm - exactly, but from the other side 3,4mm, though the difference of 0,5mm is OK, as 3,4mm is lower than the minimum P87 Standard of 3,9mm.
4./ Bogies Y25 of the cast type (gegoßene Ausführung) taken by the hopper wagon of the type: Fals [ROCO HO], as the holes of the bogies are modified.
ImageThe caps of the bogie of the model are exaclty the same witht the prototype ones.
5./ PROTO: 87 / FREMO: 87 wheels of the type: BA88/72 (Construction year after 1972) with Wheel-dia.: 920mm (UIC - standard for Y25 bogies) = 10,57mm in HO [WEIMANN HO].
ImageWheel-profile has more curves, as to obey the Kelvin-Voigt Law of visco-elastic behaviour. The more curves it has, the more visco-elastic it is during movement and absorbs the cushion.

Not operational parts - exact fine details:
1./ Air brake-pipes (/hoses) (Bremssläuche) [WEINERT HO] - out of cast brass.
2./ Hook under the coupling-plate for supporting the coupling-chain during movement according to the prorotype. This was handmade by me, by 0,3mm -cast-brass and soldered underneath the coupling plate.
3./ Shunting handrails (Rangierergriffe). This as I mentioned to other posts, are made with the following way:
I used already bended brass handrails of 0,3mm-diameter (WEINERT HO (1: 87)), in which I have hammered their ends, to make their circular shape as orthogonal and wide. Then I used a needle on my hand-'archimedes'-drill, to make small halls of them, for passing through 0.3mm-brass wire. Then I have soldered the wire, and then I have cut with a smooth cutter (that makes they area that is cut very smooth) the excess. And then I have added them with super glue (but carefully with a needle, for not having excessive glue) below the buffers. In freight wagons, i.e. Taems890 with MINDEN/SIEGEN bogies from ROCO HO (1: 87), one an additional 0,3mm - diameter brass wire needed, with its end hammered orthogonal, and soldered too, to the already soldered handrail for each of the 4 handrails. It has different handrails that are screwed on wires that are hanged below the buffers. Most of the new freight european cars have those. In the old ones, like the refrigerator car, their are either screwed or nailed below the buffers.
4./ UIC- shunting steps (Rangieretritte) [UDO BÖHNLEIN] - out of etched nickel/Silver.
5./ Connections of the hoses with the brake-system was made by 0,5mm brass wires. However, as parts for this specific type of brake system are not designed yet by UDO BÖHNLEIN, I will wait...
6./ Handbrakes (Handräder) at the sides of the chassis - out of cast brass -WEINERT HO - are connected vertically to the chassis by soldered 0,5mm - brass wires.
7./ Handrails on the body-shell are handmade by me, the same way I explained for Eaos106. However, the small handrail shown, is made the same way as the specific shunting handrails mentioned - as it's specific too, and SBB Eaos grey colored, has that, too.

Next post is the pictures, as this post is too big.... :( .

Thanx

Dimitris

REPEAT: For the construction of the handrails, 0,3mm - brass wires were used, which they were bended to the accurate lengths on the body-shell and then their ends are hammered and drilled, so that 0,2mm wires passed through, soldered and then then bended to 45 degrees, and finally the excess was removed by smooth cutters. Their painting was done by hand, and took me a lot of hours (as I don't have an airbrass yet), nevertheless, I've enjoyed it, as I always paint smoothly.

Hello.

The parts are painted.

I didn't paint the handrails of the body-shell as I am not sure, what color they have in prototype. :? Probably yellow, I think, like the Eaos of SBB.

Hello.

Last pic of the SBB CFF FFS Habils, as I have promised from the LIMA HO catalogue 1990. This was NEW in 1: 87 exactly this year. However, as apicture isn't clear to show every detail of the prototype, and for the color of its elements.

For SBB CFF FFS, Habils, Epoche IV:

A slight correction on the handrails on the body-shell. They are hanged from holders welded on each left side of the end of the body-shell (in Greek: αμάξωμα) on the prototype. I reconstructed them, and they are ready, installed and unpainted. They will be painted in the next days and be posted as well.

The last non-operational parts to be installed for the completion of the upgrade by P87-standards, is the break-system underneath the chassis, as I have mentioned on previous posts. With the completion I will post the last part, too.
