Just enamel washes with thinner, nothing special. I also used a sponge at some spots like the roof. It blends the colours in a better way I think.

I have used humbrol matt colours. Black brown rust sand and white. By mixing them you may achieve different shades. The result is a matter of practice and personal preferences. Try on a useless wagon first.

Apreciate Jonmood,

Did you applied the colours by airbrushing them?

A soft brush and a sponge. The sponge is stolen from my wife's makeup kit...
I still have never used an airbrush although I could achieve better results.

Although I have the chance to admire John's creations in real, I just can't resist to browse again and again through this topic's posts and photos!!!

The catenary is setup and ready!!!
I used 3mm wire CuSn6 type, bought from http://www2.fedes.at at a really good price. The item is http://www2.fedes.at/modellbau-zubehoer ... 100-m?c=30
The wire stays straight, it is soldered easily and it is ideal for catenary wire.
The wire parts between modules are removable while the others are soldered. The catenary is not functional.

The loco runs well with pantograph touching the wire. However I prefer to lower the pantograph 1-2mm under the wire in order to avoid any accident. I know the method with the fishing line but does anyone suggest something else? Perhaps by loosen the spring of the pantograph?...
