Progress...the model is standing half way on its feet...

The chassis and the body parts....the chassis need quite a lot of work.

Started the detailing of the chassis. The step and some other details were soldered on the white metal chassis.

Good evening all,

This little fellow from Eastern Germany has recently joined the fleet and is awaiting hellenicisation:

The design department has promptly come up with some suggestions; however, I am unsure if any other than the first one to the left is accurate:

What's more, I don't really know what the other inscriptions there were on these vehicles, if any at all. I couldn't find much in terms of photographic evidence, so would be really grateful for any pointers.

And last query, does someone know what the box on the roof of the van shown in these pages is? It being located above the toilet, I suspect a water cistern, but a fuel container for the heating would also be plausible.

Questions above questions... Thank you all so much in advance for your comments!

Kind regards,

Bernhard

Hi Bernard, sorry I didn't reply earlier at your post. I still have to do some research to get the answers ;)
Which model are you going to use?

Hi BarbaPanagos,

Thank you so much, and not to worry! I don't always look into the forum on a regular basis, either.

I did indeed forget to mention that the base model is a Brawa Pwg14 decorated for DR. Very nicely made, and the closest version I could find to match the Greek one.

It will definitely need the addition of a ladder on the rear, and the mysterious box on the lower section of the roof. Plus, some windows need planking over and doors must be opened in the front and rear bulkheads. Add interior lighting, and we have the bill of works. Unless I find something else that is.

Best wishes,

Bernhard

Hi again. I had a closer look at the photos available in the topic and I'm going to make some guesses and suggestions.

First of all the wagon was painted green as it is actually a passenger wagon (luggage)
Secondly they look like during the years have been heavily modified.

Δτ 1514 still had one side door, while the other one has been replaced by planks. The existence of the "rain-drains" reveal that a door was once present there ;)

I also think that the end doors are later additions to ease access to the passenger wagons.

The roof "box" and the ladder don't seem to be standard additions as we can see at the following photo.

It would be nice if we had a photo from the 50's or 60's.
Till then I suggest that if one would like to model a ΣΕΚ wagon (as I do) should build it just painting the wagon straight out of the box :D
Of course, If one prefers to model an ΟΣΕ one should go for the modifications.

what do you think?

Thanks so much, BP!

This very much reflects my train of thought (pun intended!), save for the fact that I will stick with ΟΣΕ.

I will probably have decals with the partial lettering printed as per the photos, arguing that the rest has either faded or become illegible under several layers of rust and dust, grease and grime.

Currently doing a test run of my 3d printer, so some homegrown detail parts will be in store, hopefully before long. (Along with the lanterns shown in the Θγ thread.)

Best wishes,

Bernhard (Θγ)

Hello BarbaPanagos, I'm currently working on this wagon. Could you please upload the three photos from your last post again? I would like to be able to see the differences between the individual Greek wagons better. Do we have details on the SEK lettering here?
Thank you very much!

Is this maybe a photo of an Δτ during ΣΕΚ?
